i think it should usually be implied or it should be made obvious, though some people, like me, don't like to just have 1 background, and occasionally like to be able to branch out and insert their characters into other fandoms

When we're done actually building this place, there wiill be a place for everyone to have different characters. You dint have to be only one person.

Not everyone knows every single kind of fandom so it would make sense for people to explain the fandom. Of course, if it's a proper OC then one doesn't need to be specified.
